Marquis de LaFayette was a member of General George Washington’s personal staff and fought many battles. LaFayette visited Lexington, Kentucky for two days as part of his national “Farewell Tour” of the United States. In May 2025, Lexington and Fayette County will commemorate the 200th Anniversary of his visit. In honor of this historic occasion, LaFayette Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will hold a high school essay contest. Students are asked to submit an original essay on the general topic of Marquis de LaFayette and the American War for Independence. To submit this essay, electronically send it to the Essay Chair, Dale Henley, at [email protected] by February 15, 2025.
*First place will receive a cash prize of $500
*Second place will receive $300
*Third place will receive $200
