This podcast began as an informal way to teach workflow to Journalism students. Using a Rodecaster Pro II integrated audio mixer and Shure microphones, the recording is captured in our hallways at STEAM, just outside the gym. Post production occurs in the sound studio using Logic Pro. Once we have edited and mastered the content, we then export as an mp3. From here, we use Davinci Resolve to layer the mp3 with the show graphic, which was created with Canva. The final product is then published here on our site.
This workflow requires not only knowledge of software, but a critical eye on how to execute multiple streams of information into a cohesive, creative vision. Media literacy is at the heart of what happens in our journalism program. How can we, as student journalists, use technology to not only argue, explain, and advocate, but delivery a quality product that competes in the noisy, saturated media space of our lives.
