Rasika is a fancy and expensive Indian restaurant in Washington DC. My father has been to this restaurant before and has been talking about how delicious the food is all day. We made a reservation and went there for dinner after a full day of exploring the monuments and museums.
Coming in I could see it was a large, comfortable, and cozy restaurant with color changing LED lights on the ceiling, tables, and a large bar. The restaurant had a nice look to it and the only lights in there were the LED lights on the ceiling and some lamps. I noticed the restaurant booths were the shape of the Taj Mahal and placed right up against the window.
There was a platform section with more tables and bookshelves placed around the walls. The service was great, they brought our appetizers out pretty fast, they took our plates away after the appetizers and gave us new clean ones, and they served the entrees quickly as well. The appetizers were five small sweet potato samosas wrapped up with a jelly-like sauce under them. On to the main course. My entree was the Lobster Hawa Mahal which was a curry with chunks of lobster and egg whites on top placed in a swirl. The egg whites on top of the dish had a creamy and foamy texture; however, the taste of the egg whites was a little bland and didn’t pair with the lobster very well. The curry was delectable, creamy, and smooth, the lobster paired with the curry very well and the lobster was juicy, soaking in some of the curry.
In the end, there were some pros and cons. The pros being savory and appetizing food, excellent service where they bring out everything quickly, and a good hospitality design. The cons are little to none where I just didn’t care much for the egg whites in my dish and the whole meal was expensive, especially for our family of five. Overall Rasika is a nice restaurant with scrumptious and delectable food. I would rate it a 9 out of 10 and I recommend going there if you can afford it.
