So in the wake of the Secret level show’s trailer being revealed. They’ve shown that there’s going to be an armored core 6 (AC6 for short) episode for the series. This may have inspired some people to buy the game. But I’m here to see if you should get the game or not.
So from a story aspect the game tells it in a way you don’t see often anymore instead of having the story straight in your face and showing you everything. They instead have a lot of it just being told to you through voices and visuals. But there’s also some chunks that just expand upon the narrative hidden away through logs and mini data banks you can find during the story that help you put more pieces of the story together. While fun can be annoying for some players, not everyone has the time to explore every nook and cranny to try and put together every piece of the story. And some people who have more free time enjoy exploring levels can still find it annoying as not sometimes we just want to go home and enjoy a game not get stuck trying to find a certain log for a a achievement.
Now about the graphics.AC6 Runs well on a xbox series X.The graphics are good all around there’s no specific spot they lack. But of course they have their shortcomings through optimization. One of the main gripes i’ve had is the fact that because of the graphics being high quality, And Fromsoft (the games developers) loving to never optimize their games run process consoles of previous generations might not be able to run it very well or have to sacrifice the graphics of the game to run it better.
Now onto gameplay aspects of it. Armored core 6 is at its center a mecha based combat game paced around high speed fights and intense movement that’s meant to leave little room for failure. The game is extremely difficult at its core which could deter some players as not everyone wants to go home only to not make any progress against a boss fight or is able to keep up with the extreme pace of the game. But it can also apply to the flip side where the sense of accomplishment for beating a difficult boss and the freedom the speed of the movement give you just makes the game feel rewarding and fun to the latter group.
So in summary I’d recommend the game: the high quality graphics, niche form of storytelling you don’t find in a lot of games, the sense of accomplishment from making progress, and the freedom you feel when you’re flying through the air as a mech. All around i’d say the game is worth it maybe just a little overpriced so in the end catch next time it goes on sale.
Now excuse me i’m going to continue to struggle against balteus!
